2008 Beijing Olympics
For the four months leading to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, a Canadian led EPR Biofeedback project was established at the Sports Hospital of the Chinese National Research Institute of Sports Medicine, in Beijing.
Under medical supervision, approximately 1000 sessions were performed on over 200 athletes of the Chinese National and Olympic Teams. The device and technique were demonstrated to over 100 physicians, academics, and public health officials prior to approval for athletes.
Thirty two of the medalists, out of the 100 Chinese medals won, are known to have participated in the biofeedback health managment program.
EPR Biofeedback programs continue today at a number of Chinese sports hospitals and universities.

Testimonial Comments from QBAA Double-Blind Study
In April, 2010, the Quantum Biofeedback Advocacy Association concluded its first of five double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical studies in order to assess the efficacy of EPR Biofeedback for the treatment of stress, pain and anxiety. The first study monitored 30 subjects for 4 sessions each over a 4 week period. The study participants had no former experience with EPR Biofeedback.
Data have yet to be analyzed at the end of the 5-site study, but here is just a sample of their comments:
“I get very relaxed in each session. significant positive changes overall . I've been feeling more calm and less bloated. Usually I'm very emotional, have a lot of energy. Overall, have noticed positive changes in stress levels. It's been a good experience. I am really curious to see the results. I have noticed changes in my body during sessions, such as a tingling feeling in my nerves, so I think that I have been getting the real sessions. Have noticed positive results.”
“Usually I get stressed easily, and I have had a lot going on, but have been able to not let it bother me as much. Noticed significant change in being more calmer and being able to focus more. I'm better at calming myself, and haven't felt as depressed or anxious—my mood and everything has been more stable and consistent.”
“Noticed some positive changes in pain and energy, and significant positive changes in mood, anxiety, and stress. When things are going wrong, I have been able to be more calm about it and not care as much, not let it bother me. I have been able to run on less sleep—usually need 8 hours of sleep, and I have been able to have energy even when I am getting less sleep.”
“Have had less sugar cravings. Some positive changes in sleeping, positivity, reactivity, well-being. Been eating more, which is a positive change. Also noticed some positive change in sleeping, exercising.”
Individual Case 1 - Stress & Pain Reduction
In March 2006, a 31 year old female presented to her MD with symptoms of hair loss, cystic acne, depression, lack of energy, low self-esteem, severe constipation, and dietary intolerances, RLQ abdominal pain (self-perceived pain score 9/10). She had a history ovarian cysts, 7 years prior. She was diagnosed again with large ovarian cysts and polycystic ovarian syndrome (confirmed via ultrasound). She was not prescribed pharmaceuticals. After 2 EPR biofeedback sessions, her abdominal pain was no longer present. She reported major improvement in psychological symptoms and significant improvements in acne. She attended 6 biofeedback sessions prior to a scheduled cyst (and possible ovary) removal surgery in July 2006. During surgery, the surgeon discovered no cysts. He reported that the ovaries did not look “polycystic,” though a tiny “pea-sized” endometriosis lesion was surgically treated. Other benefits she reports were increased energy, dietary improvements, weight loss, and stabilized hair loss.
Individual Case 2 - Stress Reduction, Quality of Life
In September 2007, in Alberta, a physically fit female with an MD diagnosed cardiac arrhythmia and high blood pressure (153/92), began an EPR biofeedback program. Her primary complaints included racing heartbeat, “peri-menopausal symptoms,” digestive problems, bloating, weight gain, anxiety about social situations, and complete lack of interest in participating in social activities. Over 5 EPR biofeedback sessions between September and October, 2007, she reported feeling very relaxed at each session, frequently felt euphoric after sessions, and felt much less anxiety and indigestion within the first couple of sessions. Her racing heart symptoms improved gradually and consistently. In November, 2007, she reported a “breakthrough” session, which triggered an immediate loss of 14 lbs within the following 4 weeks. As at February 2008, she reported a routine blood pressure of avg. 113/73 and had been without BP (indorol) and cholesterol (crestor) medication for 5 weeks. She also reported a “surprising” change in attitude, desire to seek and participate in social interactions, and dramatically improved digestion.
Individual Case 3 - Stress & Pain Reduction
In July 2006, in Alberta, a 43 year old woman attended an initial EPR biofeedback session. Her primary MD diagnosis was severe systemic inflammation and lymphadema. Her complaints included swelling in abdomen and all extremities, overweight, fatigue, severe leg pain, poor circulation, wakefulness, and foggy-head. She was taking prescribed diuretics and pain meds. This client had a history of Guillain-Barre Syndrome which paralyzed her at age 14. Six years later, after having her first child via C-section, she was unable to walk, which was officially connected with the epidural drug used during surgery. After her second child, she spent 16 years with inflammation, edema, and lymph disease. Within hours of her initial session, she reported increases in energy and breathing quality. Within 30 days, she lost 2 pants sizes, and approximately 25 lbs. of weight. After two more sessions over 2 months, she reports (medically approved) drug dose reductions, pain reduction, improved breathing, improvements in energy and circulation, improved sleep, no return of weight, and improved happiness and enjoyment of life.
Individual Case 4 - Stress Reduction, Quality of Life
A 40 year old Alberta female (professional engineer and mother of two children—2 and 5 yrs old) in Alberta, presents to EPR practitioner with various non-specific complaints suspected to be related to "high stress." She is motivated to prevent long-term stress related illnesses, control aging, and improve general health. She attended 10 sessions between March 2007-March 2008 and continues to use biofeedback for education and as a stress management strategy. Despite no significant lifestyle changes, she reports improved ability to relax, is more aware of her states of stress, is “happier, has more patience with her kids, has improved mental clarity,” and most recently has noticed reduced menstrual cramping.
Individual Case 5 - Pain Management, Quality of Life
A 67 year old Alberta male attended an initial EPRbiofeedback session in March 2008. His primary complaint is severe neck and back pain with neck immobility, secondary to a history of traumatic injury. Severe degeneration of entire vertebral column, bone spurs and severely degenerated intervertebral discs diagnosed by MD via MRI. Client also diagnosed with diabetes and taking medications for blood sugar, high blood pressure, pain, and anti-inflammatories. History—In 1974, he survives 180 ft. fall into a mining pit and suffers various neck and back hard and soft tissue trauma. He refused spinal fusion and managed pain with pharmaceuticals. In 1991, he fell off a 35 ft grainery onto his back and caused further soft and hard tissue trauma to back and left shoulder. He also has impaired vision in left eye from penetration trauma and 7 resulting surgeries. He complains of sharp pain in the eye and left temporal region. Results during initial session—he reports instantaneous alleviation of neck and back pain, which persists through second session 4 weeks later. He reports “99% improvement in pain” and “significant improvement in neck mobility—the best mobility and painlessness experienced in over 30 years.” He also reports nearly complete resolution in eye and temporal pain, plus noticeable improvement in vision in remaining eye. He has returned to an older glasses prescription. Shoulder pain still present but relieved somewhat during second session. One year later, neck and shoulder pain are still reduced but tend to recur, due to degree of trauma and degeneration, but he continues sessions to assist in long-term pain management.
